Entrepreneurship Training Division
The Entrepreneurship Training Division of the AASE Institute is dedicated not only to cultivating the entrepreneurial mindset, capabilities, and leadership potential of scientists, but also to systematically understanding and defining how scientists succeed or fail in entrepreneurship. Recognizing that many researchers possess deep scientific expertise but limited exposure to business development, the Division focuses on bridging this critical gap while identifying the underlying factors that shape successful transitions from laboratory discovery to real-world impact.
The Division delivers hands-on, practice-oriented programs informed by research into entrepreneurial success patterns. Through structured workshops, intensive boot camps, and tailored training modules, participants gain practical knowledge in areas such as intellectual property strategy, market validation, regulatory pathways, business model development, and startup formation. These programs are complemented by one-on-one mentorship, connecting scientists with experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders whose real-world insights contribute to a deeper understanding of what drives success in science-based ventures.
A central pillar of the Division is leadership development grounded in evidence-based principles. Scientists are supported in building communication, decision-making, and team management capabilities essential for leading multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex innovation environments. The Division also provides guidance on fundraising strategies, including grants, angel investment, venture capital, and public funding opportunities, while analyzing how different funding approaches influence entrepreneurial outcomes.
Beyond individual training, the Entrepreneurship Training Division serves as a platform for knowledge generation and exchange. By connecting scientists across institutions, disciplines, and sectors, it enables the collection of comparative insights, fosters peer learning, and builds long-term networks that contribute to a broader understanding of scientist entrepreneurship.
Through these integrated efforts, the Division not only prepares scientists for entrepreneurial success but also contributes to establishing global standards for how scientific talent is transformed into innovation. It ensures that discoveries are guided by structured principles, matched with capable leadership, and translated into meaningful societal impact in alignment with the mission of AASE.
