Education and Training Division

The AASE Institute's Education and Training Division is dedicated to fostering the entrepreneurial mindset, knowledge, and skills in scientists, enabling them to successfully navigate the journey from laboratory discovery to commercialization. Given that many scientists possess extensive research experience but limited knowledge of business development, the Division aims to bridge this gap.

Our programs are both hands-on and transformative. Through workshops, intensive boot camps, and customized training modules, scientists gain practical experience in areas such as intellectual property management, regulatory pathways, market analysis, and startup creation. These programs are complemented by one-on-one mentoring, allowing participants to learn directly from experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders who understand the unique challenges facing science-based businesses.

A key focus of the Division is leadership development. Scientists are encouraged to develop the communication and management skills necessary to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams, secure funding, and engage with stakeholders. Furthermore, the Division provides guidance on fundraising strategies, including grants, angel investments, and venture capital, to help scientists transform their innovations into sustainable businesses.

In addition to technical training, the Education and Training Division is committed to fostering a national community of practice. By connecting scientists across institutions and disciplines, the Division fosters peer learning, collaboration, and long-term networking opportunities. Through these initiatives, the department is committed not only to preparing individual scientists for entrepreneurial success but also to strengthening the broader science-driven innovation ecosystem in the United States.

Together, the Education and Training Division will play a vital role in ensuring that promising discoveries are matched with talented leaders who can bring them to market, create meaningful impact for society, and advance the AASE mission.
